Sigismondo Arquer of Cagliari was a great geographer condemned to death by the inquisition and burnt at the stake in 1571. Onofrio Panvinio was an Augustian prior who passed through Toledo prison in 1567. The account of a mysterious conversation between the two comes to light by chance during investigations carried out by the author.
